Forca dei Disteis

The Forca dei Disteis is one of the classic routes on the Montasio plateau. Despite being easily accessible, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the Canin massif, contrasting the Montasio plains on one side with a dramatic drop towards Dogna on the other.

From Sella Nevea, follow the road towards “Piani del Montasio” until reaching a large free car park.

From here, take trail CAI 622 (20 minutes) to Rifugio Giacomo di Brazzà (1660 m). Continue on the same trail, which climbs up to Forca dei Disteis (2241 m), reached in less than 2 hours.

The pass can be visited without particular danger, but since it is narrow and exposed, caution is advised.

The return follows the same path, allowing hikers in the warmer season to admire many alpine flowers and often spot groups of ibex.

We recommend reserving some time for a stop at Agriturismo Malga Montasio before heading back: in addition to excellent local cuisine, it is renowned for its dairy products, especially the delicious yogurt made daily.

Advises
