Monte Corona is a peak of the Eastern Carnic Alps, located east of Passo Pramollo, and it can be reached with an easy snowshoe excursion.
You leave your car across the road from the “Gallo Forcello” hotel at Passo Pramollo, where you immediately find the signs for trail CAI 504.
After about 20 minutes on the trail, you reach Casera Auernig, where two options are available: • Continue straight on CAI 504, reaching Casera For in about one hour, then follow CAI 501 to the summit of Monte Corona in another 30 minutes. • Alternatively, take trail “Bepi della Schiava” (CAI 501) to the left, which follows the ridge via Monte Carnizza, reaching the summit of Monte Corona in about 2 hours.
The first option (CAI 504) is relatively easy and does not present major difficulties. The CAI 501, on the other hand, is more challenging, with exposed sections both on the ascent and along the ridge.
For the descent, both trails can be followed back to the parking area: about 1h30 via Casera For, or 2h via Monte Carnizza.
Il sentiero passante per la cresta presenta svariati passaggi esposti, ai quali prestare prudenza, soprattutto in presenza di ghiaccio.
