Monte Chiampon (Veliki Karman) is the highest mountain of the ridge that closes the Venzonassa Valley to the south, from the area of Gemona on the Tagliamento to the Torre.
Following the road from Gemona to Malga Cuarnan (1067 m), you can leave your car at the parking area located along the last dirt section. The malga can be reached either via the trail (10 minutes) or the road itself (15 minutes); from there, take trail CAI 713, which leads directly to the summit (1709 m).
The ascent to the summit of Chiampon takes about 2 hours and is particularly demanding. Given the considerable elevation gain, it is recommended to undertake this hike only in the company of experienced hikers and with appropriate equipment.
The descent is made along the same CAI 713 trail, which returns to the starting point in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
