The Giuseppe Bianchi bivouac is one of the most innovative and striking bivouacs in Friuli Venezia Giulia, located in the heart of Moggio Udinese, more precisely in the Val Alba reserve.
You can drive up to the Val Alba parking area, where parking is free. From there, follow trail 450/428a until the junction where the two trails separate in opposite directions. At the junction, keep left and continue along trail 428a, entering a beautiful woodland; after about 30 minutes you will reach a second junction, where you should keep right to continue along trail 428. After about one hour, you arrive at the Bianchi bivouac, from which there is a beautiful view over the Val Alba and the Chiavals and Crostis mountains. From the bivouac, it is also possible to reach not only the Chiavals pass but also the mountain of the same name, without the need for special equipment, though paying close attention to the trails (classified by CAI for expert hikers). The effort is rewarded with a unique view of the region’s mountains.
For the return, take the same trail you came up (428) and continue until the first junction. Instead of retracing the outward path, keep right, and in 20 minutes you will reach the Vualt refuge for a water stop. From the Vualt refuge, take the forest road that leads back to the parking area where the car was left, in about 30 minutes.
Advises
In caso di pernottamento al bivacco si consiglia di dormire al piano superiore e portare sempre una tenda ed il necessario per il pernottamento nel caso in cui il bivacco fosse occupato
